Scania Demo Day – Development Environment based on Linked Data & OSLC

Nowadays, the rapid growth of software-intensive applications in our physical world and daily lives drastically increases the needs for interoperability of heterogeneous engineering tools and data, and throughout the product lifecycle. It is even more the case in the automotive domain in a context of increased competitiveness now focused on embedded systems.

Various European initiatives (mainly from the ARTEMIS European community, but also in ITEA, H2020, EIT Digital) have been tackling this issue, with the willingness to establish a common ground towards the adoption of viable interoperability approaches and specifications. The current trend is to rely on emerging standards from the Internet eco-systems and to apply them to fulfill systems engineering’s integration needs.

In this context, Scania and KTH have been taking a leading role in promoting these emerging standards and in prototyping an environment (or toolchain) supporting the Scania’s industrial processes for developing embedded software. Such an environment encompasses the integration of engineering and lifecycle tools, implemented in-house by Scania or provided by external tool suppliers, and towards the support of guidelines from the ISO 26262 standard on functional safety for the automotive domain.

The purpose of this ICES event is to present and demonstrate Scania’s integration scenarios supported by the Linked Data/OSLC development environment being implemented by Scania and KTH. The day will be split up in two main slots: in the morning, overviews of the overall objectives and challenges will be presented, and the afternoon will be dedicated to an open space with booths presenting demos and posters.
