SUMMARY:Coffee with an Expert - Research\, technology development and innovation with 5G in North of Sweden
DESCRIPTION:This Coffee with an Expert\, by Prof. Karl Andersson from LTU\, will be brodcasted via ZOOM and the link is provided via emial before the event. \nThe Luleå University of Technology conducts research\, technology development and innovation linked to 5G and inaugurated the first testbed in June 2019 together with Ericsson and Telia. Today\, research\, technology development and innovation are conducted together with large companies\, SMEs and the public sector in four locations in Norrbotten and Västerbotten. The research includes advanced signal processing within 5G\, innovation processes linked to 5G and edge computing. The work is conducted in close collaboration with partners and a large number of test cases have been performed both indoors and outdoors\, in lab environments and real environments as well as with both 5G NSA and 5G SA. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nSpeaker\nProf. Karl Andersson  – Short BiographyAfter receiving his master degree in Computer Science and Technology from the Royal Institute of Technology\, Stockholm\, Sweden\, Karl Andersson started his professional career as a consultant\, project manager\, business developer\, and branch manager within the Capgemini Group. Returning to academia as a PhD Student he obtained his PhD degree after defending his thesis “On Access Network Selection Models and Mobility Support in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks”. After visiting Columbia University in the City of New York as a postdoctoral researcher and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology\, Tokyo\, Japan as a JSPS Fellow\, Karl is now Professor in Pervasive and Mobile Computing at Luleå University of Technology (LTU)\, Skellefteå\, Sweden. Since 2017\, Karl is leading Centre for Distance-spanning Technology at LTU specialising in research centred around fifth generation mobile networks (5G)\, Internet of Things (IoT)\, and datacenters. Karl is currently coordinating a number of projects funded by the EU\, VINNOVA\, and the Swedish Energy Agency.
