SUMMARY:Seminar - To Teach and Learn with the Brain in mind
DESCRIPTION:ICES is continuing our efforts within Up-Skilling. Not only are we discussing the technical subjects that are important within the industry\, but we are also looking into how we learn and how that affects the design of our courses. There are new demands on our abilities to learn throughout life\, not only due to competition but also to handle the fast pace of development in all areas of society. This puts new demands on the ability to teach as well\, both inside and outside of the universities. \nTeaching\, as a skill\, is groundbreaking when it is performed well\, but equally neglected when it is confused with pure exposure of information. The same can be said about learning. We do not learn during the consumption of information. We learn when we reflect upon what we have consumed. It takes time\, effort and an idea of how it is done. \nBoth teaching and learning are processes facilitated by having an awareness of how learning is established in the brain. \nDuring this full-day seminar\, we will work through the principles of both teaching and learning. It will be theory\, hands-on strategies\, exercises\, discussions and insights into the workings of the brain and its implications. \n  \nThe seminar will be held by Anna Tebelius Bodin. Anna is an appreciated lecturer and award-winning author of 5 books. She has been working with the effect our brain has on learning for over 15 years. \n  \nDetails \nDate: Friday 25th of March 09.00-16.00\nWhere: Gradängsalen\, Teknikringen 1 KTH Campus\nWho: Teachers\, R&D Mangers\, HR\, Talent Management \nSignup by sending an email to ices-admin@md.kth.se \n\nLunch and coffee will be provided. This seminar is free of charge and intended for ICES Members and specially invited guests.

SUMMARY:SCSSS 2023 – Scandinavian Conference on System & Software Safety
DESCRIPTION:System and software safety in electronic systems is becoming increasingly important in many industries and in critical societal infrastructure. The systems become ever more complex\, connected and autonomous and the software continues to grow. This poses many challenges even for mature organizations\, requiring approaches that go beyond established best practices. Many organizations face the same kind of challenges and thus sharing of experiences becomes essential. \nThis year’s event takes place in Stockholm from 20-22 November. Acknowledged as a central meeting place for Scandinavian safety experts from different industries\, the SCSSS is an opportunity to share experiences and make new contacts. There will be an overview day followed by a day of parallel sessions with in depth presentations and discussions about different challenges\, techniques\, standards and methods. This year’s keynotes are Nancy Leveson (MIT)\, Ibrahim Habli (University of York) and Lena Kecklund (MTO Säkerhet AB). Nancy Leveson will also give a worshop/tutorial Monday 20 November. \n\n\nSee the conference homepage for more details: http://safety.addalot.se/20223
